Microwavable Retort Pouch
Auto Ventilation Pouch offers a quick and easy way to reheat foods in the microwave without tearing the pouch. It is perfect for prepared meals, sauces, and frozen food products. It consists of a discharge valve and steam regulator to break open yet to control the total amount of steam in the pouch to minimize moisture loss during cooking in the microwave. With its steam-pressured cooking method, foods are more nutritious and delicious!
A Microwavable Retort Pouch is designed to provide convenience for consumers while ensuring that the food inside is safely heated using microwave technology. These pouches are made from heat-resistant, multi-layered materials, ensuring that they can withstand both the retort sterilization process (which uses high heat and pressure) and microwave reheating without compromising the integrity of the food or the packaging
Material Construction:
- Polyester (PET), Polypropylene (PP), and Polyethylene (PE) are commonly used as primary materials.
- These materials are designed to handle high-temperature sterilization during the retort process and still remain durable for microwave heating.
- Metallized film or nylon layers may be used for additional protection against moisture, oxygen, and light, but these layers will not include aluminum foil to ensure microwave safety.
Considerations:
- Ventilation: Ensure that the pouch has adequate venting for steam during microwaving. Without proper venting, the pouch may over-pressurize, potentially causing it to burst.
- Heat Distribution: While microwavable pouches are designed for even heat distribution, very thick or unevenly textured food might still present heating challenges. In these cases, careful attention to packaging design and material selection is necessary.
